  1. Chile ministers' committee upholds environmental approvals for San Antonio port, wind farm

    — Chile's Committee of Ministers confirmed favourable Environmental Qualification Resolutions (RCA) for the Puerto Exterior de San Antonio port in the Valparaíso region and the Los Portones wind farm in the Los Lagos region, two projects with combined investment of $4,250 million, the government said.

The committee rejected the administrative appeals against the wind farm and partially accepted the appeals against the port project, according to the statement. The port plan, with an investment of $4,000 million, covers the construction and operation of two new terminals on the southern coast of San Antonio, including the expansion of route G-908 and sections of existing railway. The wind farm, with an estimated investment of $250 million, comprises 24 turbines with 6.2 MW of capacity in Calbuco and Maullín, a 23 km 220 kV transmission line and a battery energy storage system.

The review took place at the committee's 12th session under President José Antonio Kast. In less than 8 months of the current administration, the committee has resolved administrative appeals on 28 projects with estimated investment of $21,996 million, the statement said.
