India releases draft Petroleum (Amendment) Bill, 2026 for public consultation

NEW DELHI, Sept 30 — India's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Sept 30 posted the draft Petroleum (Amendment) Bill, 2026 on its website, and it is asking stakeholders and the public for comments as part of pre-legislative consultation.
The ministry published an explanatory note with the draft bill that gives a brief overview of the amendments, according to a government press release.
The ministry asked stakeholders and members of the public to send any comments or suggestions on the draft bill on or before Oct 30, 2026.
Submissions can go to the Under Secretary (Distribution), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, at Kartavya Bhawan-03 in New Delhi, or by email, the release said.
The ministry said it will examine the inputs it receives during the consultation.
