The auction covers 1,866 km of new transmission lines and sectioning works and continued operation of 483 km of existing lines, the ministry said. It said construction is expected to create about 20,300 jobs.
The facilities are in the states of Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Paraná, Rondônia and São Paulo. Concessions will run for 30 years, with projects due to enter operation between 42 and 60 months after contracts are signed, according to the ministry.
The ministry said the largest project in the auction combines facilities in Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and Paraná and passes through São Paulo. It involves 4.113 billion reais in planned investment, 1,167 km of lines and an estimated 8,225 jobs.
Other projects include 1.071 billion reais for the São Paulo metropolitan region, two projects in Paraná totaling $274 million (1.46 billion reais), and $141 million (753.2 million reais) for the Coletora Porto Velho substation in Rondônia, the ministry said.
Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira said the investment cycle would expand energy routes, strengthen supply security and create conditions for new projects and jobs.
According to the ministry, the government's transmission expansion cycle mobilized $13.1 billion (69.64 billion reais) in estimated investment between 2023 and 2026, or $14.6 billion (77.54 billion reais) when adjusted by the IPCA consumer price index.
