The commission's Electricity Unit determined that the adjustment factor for the generation charges, covering energy and capacity, is 0.00% relative to the generation charges of the immediately preceding month, according to Oficio No. F00.06.UE/2658/2026, dated Sept. 30, 2026.
To calculate the October tariffs, the commission credited $67.2 million (1.251 billion Mexican pesos) from the differential of generation costs pending to be credited, according to the notice.
After reviewing the costs, the commission said, differentials for the costs of CFE plants and independent power producers, the wholesale electricity market, long-term auctions and small electrical systems will be recognised over 1, 24, 1 and 1 months respectively, starting in October 2026. The commission said the aim was to recover generation costs, keep the tariffs stable and, where applicable, reduce their volatility.
The notice states that the tariffs are maximums. It says CFE may agree conventional arrangements or tariff discounts with its users under criteria that the commission sets with the validation of the Ministry of Energy (SENER).
A coordination group made up of SENER, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, CFE and the commission met on Sept. 29, 2026. SENER issued a favourable opinion on the 0.00% factor and the tariffs on Sept. 30, according to the notice.
CFE was ordered to post the tariffs on its website within two business days of notification and to publish the notice in the Diario Oficial de la Federacion (DOF) within 20 business days after Oct. 1, 2026. CFE dated its reproduction of the notice Oct. 1, 2026.
The tariffs that applied from Sept. 1, 2026 were notified in Oficio No. F00.06.UE/2433/2026 of Aug. 31, 2026.
